Frequently Asked Questions

Who founded B4 Manga?

B4 Manga was established by three cousins: Michael J. Huskey, James LaGrow, and Ethan Adams.

What is OEL?

OEL Manga stands for Original English Language Manga. These are manga-style comics created by non-Japanese artists and writers, but they are written in English and follow the traditional manga style.

OEL Light Novel stands for Original English Language Light Novel. These are light novels that are originally written in English by non-Japanese authors. They are similar in style and content to Japanese light novels but are created specifically for an English-speaking audience.

What does creator-owned mean?

Creator-owned means the trademark and copyright of the work in question are wholly owned by its original creator. B4 Manga only publishes creator-owned Mangas and Light Novels.

Can I put my story on your Platform?

Please note that B4 Manga is not an open platform for general use. As a traditional-style publisher, we carefully select the works we publish. Be sure to review our Submission Guidelines on the Submission Portal and follow the provided instructions.

For more details, please refer to our Submission Guidelines.

What story formats does the B4 Manga platform support?

B4 Manga is designed to handle the following story formats:

  • Webtoon-style – Vertical scrolling comics optimized for digital reading.
  • Traditional Comic/Manga-style – Classic panel-based storytelling.
  • Written Novels – Light novels and other prose-based stories.

For more details, please refer to our Submission Guidelines.

What makes publishing with B4 Manga different from other publishers?

At B4 Manga, we prioritize creators and their work. Here’s why partnering with us stands out:

You Retain Copyright – Unlike many traditional publishers, you maintain full copyright control over your story. Your work remains yours.

Profit Sharing Across All Revenue Streams – Whether it’s book sales, merchandise, or even TV/film deals, if your story generates revenue, you get a fair share of the net profits.

Creator-Owned, Not Investor-Driven – B4 Manga is run by creators, not corporate investors. Your work is treated with passion and respect, with creators always coming before profits.

What is POD?

Print on demand (POD) is a publishing and printing model where books, comics, or other printed materials are only produced when an order is placed. Instead of printing large quantities in advance, POD allows publishers and authors to print copies as needed, reducing inventory costs and risks.

How Print on Demand Works

  1. Upload Files – The publisher or author provides digital files (PDFs for the interior and cover) to a POD service.
  2. Order Placement – When a customer orders a book (through an online store or retailer), the POD service prints a single copy or as many as needed.
  3. Printing & Shipping – The book is printed, bound, and shipped directly to the customer.

Advantages of POD

  • Low Upfront Costs – No need to invest in large print runs.
  • No Inventory Storage – Books are printed when needed, reducing warehouse costs.
  • Global Distribution – POD services often integrate with major retailers (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc.).
  • Flexibility – Easy to update content or cover designs.

Disadvantages of POD

  • Higher Per-Unit Cost – Printing single copies is more expensive than bulk offset printing.
  • Limited Customization – Fewer options for paper types, finishes, and binding styles.
  • Slower Fulfillment – Takes longer than shipping pre-printed stock.

Popular POD Services

  • Amazon KDP Print – Amazon’s in-house POD service for paperbacks.
  • IngramSpark – Offers wider distribution to bookstores and libraries.
  • Lulu – Good for books, comics, and niche formats.
  • Blurb – Specializes in photo books and high-quality prints.
  • Printful & Redbubble – POD for merchandise and art prints.

For B4 Manga, POD could be useful for print versions of your OEL manga and light novels, especially for testing demand before committing to larger print runs. Would you like recommendations on specific services for manga-style books?

What are early access volumes?

How It Works

When you purchase Early Access for a volume, you unlock the ability to read every chapter of that volume online as soon as it’s ready.

  • New chapter completed? It’s instantly added to your access.
  • Volume completed? Your online access remains, letting you reread the full volume anytime directly at B4Manga.com.

Exclusive Early Access Pricing

Early Access isn’t just early—it’s also a deal.

  • Digital Access Price: $7.99
  • Early Access Price: $3.99 (50% off)

By jumping in early, you get the full online reading experience at half the price of the finished digital release.

Free vs. Early Access

We want everyone to have a taste of our stories—so some chapters in each volume will be free to read for anyone visiting the site. Typically, 1–3 chapters of a volume will be unlocked for public reading.

But here’s the benefit of Early Access:

  • You get every chapter of the volume, not just the public preview.
  • Not all chapters go public—some remain exclusive to paid readers, making Early Access the only way to experience the full volume as it’s being created.

Why Early Access?

  • Read ahead of everyone else — Experience each chapter the moment it’s available.
  • Support creators directly — Your purchase helps us keep producing new manga and light novels.
  • Save money — Get the complete volume for 50% off the regular digital price.
  • Stay connected to the journey — Watch a volume unfold in real time as chapters are completed.

After the Volume is Complete

Once a volume finishes, it will also be available as a full print edition and digital copy through our shop and select third-party platforms. Early Access purchases keep their online access even after completion—so you can always revisit the story at B4Manga.com.

Start with Our Debut Titles

B4 Manga’s first Early Access volumes are here:

  • Fade to Black: Volume 1 (Manga)
  • Eden of the Dead: Volume 1 (Light Novel)

Be among the first to experience these stories as they’re released, chapter by chapter—while saving money.

Why Offer Early Access Volumes & Single Comic Issues?

At B4 Manga, we know every reader enjoys stories in their own way. That’s why we offer multiple ways to experience our manga and light novels—Early Access Volumes, Single Comic Issues, and Collected Volumes. Here’s a breakdown of why we do it, and what it means for you.

What is Early Access?

Early Access lets you read a specific volume online as it’s being created.

  • New chapter completed? It’s added instantly.
  • When the volume is finished, you keep your online access permanently.
  • Early Access costs $3.99 (50% off the $7.99 digital price).

Some chapters (usually 1–3 per volume) will be made free for everyone—but not the full volume. Early Access is the only way to read the entire volume as it’s released.

What are Single Comic Issues?

Single Comic Issues are limited print run releases of individual chapters, created with collectors in mind.

  • Physical-only releases (no digital).
  • Standard Western comic book size.
  • Unique cover art exclusive to each issue.
  • Printed in small runs to stay collectible.

How do Volumes fit into this?

Once a story arc is complete, all chapters are gathered into a Volume—available in both print and digital editions. Volumes are ideal for readers who prefer binge reading or want the bookshelf edition.

Why offer all three formats?

Because every fan is different:

  • Early Access is for readers who want to experience the story as it’s being made.
  • Comic Issues are for collectors who love limited-run comics with exclusive covers.
  • Volumes are for binge readers who want the complete story in one book.

Which series will have these options?

Our debut titles—Fade to Black (manga) and Eden of the Dead (light novel)—will both be available in Early Access, Collected Volumes, and limited-run Comic Issues.

👉 Whether you love reading early, collecting exclusives, or bingeing full volumes, B4 Manga has a format made for you.
